MEADVILLE, Pa., Nov. 18, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- For
first-time author Edward Holscher,
his study manual "The Joy of Old Testament Promises: Repentance and
Faith" is a culmination of his life's work as a dedicated Christian
and Bible believer. Through this lens, readers will gain a clear
understanding of the Old Testament's most valuable lessons in a
digestible, relatable manner. Mr. Holscher's insights, gleaned
during 48 years of Sunday School
classes and adult Bible teaching, provide a solid foundation for
study leaders to guide seekers through these often baffling
passages of Scripture.
Prior to publishing, and before his passing, Mr. Holscher said:
"I am not a trained Bible scholar, but in my decades of observing
and absorbing Bible study courses, I noticed that 'new' Christians
and seasoned believers alike often found the Old Testament
confusing and difficult to interpret. My hope is to ease
embarrassment for those who may feel lost, and provide a clear path
forward to understanding the contents of these valuable 39
books."
Mr. Holscher was born during the Dust Bowl and Great Depression
era to Christian parents in Keith County,
Nebraska. He attended high school in Ogallala, Nebraska and went on to the
University of Nebraska where he majored
in pharmacy. He soon joined one of the largest companies in the
world, Parke-Davis, as a pharmaceutical salesman. Originally
stationed in Kansas, he traveled
to rural counties for his work then eventually moved to
Wichita where he met Lois Temple. They married shortly after in 1948,
and over the next 65-plus years were both dedicated to their faith,
family, and careers.
Rebekah IIliff, Mr. Holscher's granddaughter, said: "Two weeks
before my grandfather joined his wife of nearly seven decades in
heaven, we had a lengthy conversation about his legacy project:
'Repentance and Faith.' As a professional writer, he entrusted me
with the task of making sure the book was edited and published in
the event he could not do it himself. As someone who took great
pride in independence, I know this was difficult for him. But for
me it was a great privilege. I gained insight into his life's work,
his belief system, and his thinking."
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Mr. Holscher's new book
is a riveting manual that provides remarkable passages from the
Holy Bible that will serve as one of the rudimentary tools for
their personal growth. It serves as a useful handbook for readers,
enabling them to understand the stories and passages written in the
thirty-nine books of the Holy Bible.
