Total Petrochemicals & Refining USA reported an operational
disruption that led to above-normal gas emissions at its refinery
in Port Arthur, Texas.
In a statement to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality,
the refinery said the "process upset" led to flaring and the
emissions-release of some 15,000 pounds of sulfur dioxide that
began Wednesday and lasted about an hour.
Total's 225,000-barrel-a-day Port Arthur refinery is 95 miles
east of Houston.
