Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (SGRE.MC) said Thursday that
it will supply Equinor ASA (EQNR.OS) with the world's largest
floating wind power plant.
The Spanish renewable energy company said the plant, which will
power offshore oil and gas platforms, will have a total capacity of
88 megawatts and will be located about 140 kilometers offshore
Norway. The project is scheduled to be commissioned in late 2022,
the company said.
By reducing the use of gas turbines on the fields, the project
will help cut CO2 emissions by more than 200,000 tons per year,
according to Siemens Gamesa.
No financial details were provided.
