Bayer AG (BAYN.XE) said Tuesday that Ertharin Cousin joins its supervisory board, succeeding Thomas Ebeling.

Ms. Cousin has held leadership positions in the nutrition and agriculture industry, Bayer said, including as executive director of the U.N. World Food Programme for five years until 2017.

"The new appointment gives the Bayer supervisory board the added support it was targeting in view of the growing significance of the crop science business," the German company said.

Mr. Ebeling left the board at the end of September because of "new commitments at other companies," even though his mandate was originally running until 2022, Bayer said.
