Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) on Tuesday reported a broad-reaching loss of power that disrupted operations and caused above-normal gas emissions at its refinery in Beaumont, Texas.

In a statement to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the refinery said the incident was "site wide," and included the release of some 165,184 pounds of carbon monoxide gas, as well as an excess of sulfur dioxide.

The gas emissions began Monday and ended Tuesday afternoon, it said, lasting about 22 hours.

"Personnel are working to restore normal operations," Exxon said. "All contractual commitments are anticipated to be met."

The 362,000 barrel-a-day Beaumont refinery lies 90 miles east of Houston.
