Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) said Friday it has signed an agreement to acquire the advertising serving and creating businesses of online advertising company Sizmek Inc.

"Sizmek and Amazon Advertising have many mutual customers, so we know how valued these proven solutions are to their customer base," the companies said.

Once the deal closes, Sizmek Ad Server and Sizmek Dynamic Creative Optimization "will operate separately from Amazon Advertising for the time being," the companies said.

Financial terms weren't disclosed.

Sizmek Inc., which is owned 90% by Vector Capital and 10% by lender Cerberus Capital Management LP, filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in March.
