Roche Holding AG's (RHHBY) Genentech on Thursday named Alexander Hardy chief executive effective March 1.

Mr. Hardy succeeds Bill Anderson, who was recently appointed chief executive of Roche Pharmaceuticals. Roche last month said it appointed Mr. Anderson CEO of Roche Pharmaceuticals, replacing Daniel O'Day, who was named chief executive of Gilead Sciences Inc. (GILD).

Mr. Hardy first joined Genentech in 2005, where he held several senior management positions. In 2014, he became head of Asia Pacific for Roche Pharmaceuticals and is currently head of global product strategy.
