Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin (ML.FR) has decided to close its Dundee factory in the U.K. in 2020, saying its conversion is not financially viable.

The site, opened in 1971, makes 16-inch and smaller tires and employs 845 people, the company said.

Michelin will start a consultation process with employees in the next two weeks, it said.
